  1. Wow!! It worked! If i can create and embed a voki anyone can!

At first glance the voki webpage looks very easy to use but it did take me a while to figure out how to record a message and I lost the first cat I made....i still don't know where she went!

There are many possible uses for vokis in the classroom. And they are the perfect partner to blogs as allow students to voice their ideas/questions/knowledge without publishing their image.

I like that you can upload a audio file as the voice, as this means you could use a digital voice recorder in class (which is more manageable) and then upload the recordings to a voki later, which I think would save time and fiddling around with the voki recording (which i found a bit tricky).

With practice I can see vokis being a useful tool but they can be time consuming and it is easy to get distracted playing with different characters and voices....which is what I'm going to do now!

  2. Remember that with all these tools, you will need to put in a bit of time to familiarise yourself with them before you try them out with students. It DOES always get easier and faster with practice though!!

  3. Yes, my original attempt was slow going, but I've made a few now and they've gotten to be much easier to set up.

  4. This is hilarious! I love the bit where Dangerous Dog enters! I can see how this would be an engaging and fun classroom tool. No privacy issues with photos being uploaded on the web, which is a great incentive to use them. I'll have to have a go at creating one now!

  5. yes without doubt one need to spend HOURS in preparing, much like writing assignments, and then it can flow on quite rapidly. And you do need to know it inside out before putting the technology in front of the kids. I can see plenty of one's holiday time, spent in front of the computer preparing for the term to come....
